All the athletes are doing a great job. Next week will split up more based on abilities so everyone can have the best training experience. Don’t be discouraged if you get moved around.
Thank you parents for getting your athletes to and from the pool on time. Abbe Keleher negotiated the pool rental for us with 7 Hills. Part of the agreement is that while someone is at the pool Abbe has to be at the pool. Abbe is donating her time and we don’t want to hold her up!
Did your athlete outgrow their fins over the summer? We can collect them and get them to someone in need. Feel free to create a parent exchange on the GroupMe too!
So many questions already about Session 2! The information we have is on the website. We understand that the practice time and location for Session 2 is not ideal for everyone. We truly had to jump through a lot of hoops to find any space to practice. We did what we thought was best for the teams and coaches.
MS tryouts 10/1 and 10/3 HS tryouts 9/30 and 10/2 Athletes do not need to attend both sessions or stay the entire practice. Check in with a coach to tryout. EVERY athlete must attend a tryout except those already in Session 1.
Reminders to athletes: Please remember your belongings. There is a collection of abandoned belongings starting under the benches by the clubhouse.
Pay attention to your coaches. There are a lot of bodies in the water and if you don’t pay attention then you will be lost! ******************************************** August 25, 2024

Session 1 will be five weeks from 9/3-10/6 at Seven Hills Swim Club. The focus of this session will be development. Athletes will develop their feel for the water, stroke, and stamina. In order to participate, athletes must be able to comfortably swim 4 lengths of the pool.
Who should swim during this session? Everyone is welcome. Swimmers for this session are swimmers who maybe were just getting comfortable last season and have a goal to improve this season and need a jump start. Swimmers who are new to team swimming have a great opportunity to develop before the tryouts for the next session. There will be no tryouts for this session. Swimmers who want to keep going and not lose momentum gained during summer swim.
Registration is completely online with the form found on the NSSC website. For safety and the best experience for all of the swimmers we will limit the session to the first 45 swimmers for each age group (high school and middle school) to register. Parents will be notified when registration is received. The list for the Session will be published on the NSSC website no later than August 26th. This is an open session and we are not dividing up by school.
Practice times are Monday and Wednesday 4:15-5:30 for the high school athletes. Tuesday and Thursday 4:30-5:30 will be for the middle school athletes. The fee for Session 1 is $150 payable on the first day of the session. Please wait for payment instructions before sending payment. We are still working on the payment system.
Please bookmark the NSSC website www.nashvilleschoolswimclub.org and use the page as a reference. Also follow on Instagram as well. We will use GroupMe for updates in real time and instructions to join will be emailed before Labor Day.

August 1, 2024 While not finalized below is a season plan to give you an idea of start dates. The season will look a little different this year as well. We have learned over the years a lot about how our swimmers engage with the program. We are going to try something new this year and break the season into three sessions.
Session 1 will be five weeks from 9/3-10/6 (location pending). The focus of this session will be development. Athletes will develop their feel for the water, stroke, and stamina. In order to participate, athletes must be able to comfortably swim 4 lengths of the pool without stopping.
Session 2 will be six weeks from 10/13-winter break (location varies by school, location pending). The focus of this session will be challenge. Athletes will challenge themselves to swim cleaner, faster, and longer. Session 2 will be the normal school season and include dual meets for high schoolers and invites for middle schoolers. Athletes are required to participate in meets. Middle school and high school will not compete at the same meets this year.
Session 3 will be about 7 weeks from Winter Break-Championship meets (location varies by school, location pending). The focus of this session will be technique. Athletes will refine their strokes and increase their speed with more individual focus from the coaching staff. Session 3 will be only for athletes that have achieved championship meet cuts or athletes who are invited by the coaching staff. Athletes in Session 3 must also have completed Session 2.
We are SUPER excited about the coming season. We think it will be the best season yet!
